How did you decide to go to the school that you did? (Please focus on your Bachelor’s degree)
I wanted to stay in state, even though my dream school was out of state. My mom got sick my Senior year and I knew that if UM gave me a scholarship it was the best school for me.
Did you apply for a lot of scholarships? If so…how did you find them?
Yes, I did a lot of research and had a binder FILLED with Scholarships. My guidance counselor also helped me to drive my intentions.
What did you do to prepare for college? Money…ACT/SAT Tests…Certain classes on your high school schedule
I worked to pay for the SAT, ACT and College application fees. I did IB program and all AP Electives to boos my HPA and class rank. I took the SAT twice to improve my score. I was extra involved on campus to show diversity in my application.
What advice do you have for our students when thinking about colleges?
Follow the money and don’t get in debt for undergrad. If you are worried about best scores make sure that your GPA is good and that you are getting involved in school.
What was your college life like besides school work?
Fun! I was involved with several service organizations on campus. I had a great job on the Center for Latin American Studies and I was part of a sorority, Alpha Delta Pi.
